Brad Wood presenting on CommandBox to the Online CF Meetup 10/2 @ 12pm (US ET)

Brad Wood
Sep 30, 2014

Brad Wood will be giving a presentation on our newest Ortus project CommandBox this Thursday to Charlie Arehart's Online ColdFusion Meetup.  The session will be noon US Eastern and like all Online CF Meetups, will be recorded.

Topic Description:

CommandBox is a standalone, native tool for Windows, Mac, and Linux that will provide you with a Command Line Interface (CLI) for developer productivity, tool interaction, package management, embedded CFML server, application scaffolding, and some sweet ASCII art. It seamlessly integrates to work with any of the *Box products but it is also open for extensibility for any ColdFusion (CFML) project as it is also written in ColdFusion (CFML) using our concepts of CommandBox Commands.

CommandBox also functions as a package management tool which integrates seamlessly with ForgeBox, our community of ColdFusion (CFML) projects, but can also integrate with git, svn, http, ftp and many more code endpoints. Come learn about one of the coolest tools for CFML in years and how it can help your everyday productivity.

You can find more info here at the official event page.  We hope to see you there!

Sep 10, 2014

Ortus is the company that has brought you the ColdBox MVC Platform, TestBox, CacheBox, WireBox, etc and we're still coming out with cool new stuff like our NoSQL library and CommandBox.  And while we offer on-site consulting and training as part of our professional services, we love to sponsor free training for the ColdFusion/CFML community because we believe better-equipped developers make for a healthier ecosystem.

This will be the third year Team ColdBox puts on ColdBox Developer's Week, a full week of online webinars totalling over 20 hours of content.  Speakers are coming together from around the world to put this on and Ortus is a proud sponsor of the effort, even donating some of the daily door prizes.  There will be 4 sessions a day the entire week of September 22nd-26th.

You can read more about CBDW and sign up for free over on the ColdBox engineering blog.

Or just skip straight to the sessions here:

Signup is free and if you really like the value of our sessions feel free to use the donation option built into EventBrite.

Brad Wood
Oct 30, 2013

We are very excited to announce a brand new webinar coming up on November 19th at 9am PST which will dive into exactly what Couchbase Server is and how to leverage it in any CFML application.  We have partnered with the great guys at Couchbase to put on this FREE official Couchbase webinar and will be co-presenting with Tug Grall, their technical evangelist.

This will not be a ColdBox-specific presentation, and will cover tools that work on both Adobe ColdFusion as well as open source Railo.  Please come check it out regardless of what CFML engine or framework you're using!  We'll start with an overview of Couchbase Server, it's amazing distributed clustering abilities, and then move into how to use it in your CFML apps.  Here's a brief overview of what we'll be covering.

  • Overview of Couchbase Server and NoSQL Document store
  • Overview of ColdFusion (CFML) Applications
  • Distribute Java EE sessions with Couchbase Railo Extension
  • Leverage NoSQL JSON Document store from CFML
  • Leverage Couchbase as a distributed cache from any CFML application.

Webinar: Scaling CFML Applications with Couchbase NoSQL Server

Luis Majano
Oct 30, 2013

We are very excited to partner up with the great folks at Couchbase to bring you an awesome webinar on November 19th, 2013.  Myself, Brad and Tug will be presenting on the amazing features of the Couchbase NoSQL server and how it can be leveraged for scalability with CFML applications.  Here is a synopsis of the webinar:

Scaling ColdFusion (CFML) Applications with Couchbase NoSQL Server

In modern applications, scalability is one of the most important keys to success.  High availability requires distributed systems that can scale with load and data size.  Couchbase has been recognized to be one of the fastest and easiest to scale NoSQL databases. Ortus Solutions has developed plugins for CFML applications (powered by ColdFusion and/or Railo) and Couchbase to bring this power to your CFML applications.

Many modern applications are using NoSQL document stores for rapid development and flexible data models.  Many data needs can be satisfied by storing JSON documents that allow for on-the-fly modifications.  You can index JSON documents of any structure using map reduce functions, and execute queries against them.  Couchbase will bring both scalability, flexible data models and much more to your CFML applications.

In this webinar you'll see:

  • Overview of Couchbase Server and NoSQL Document store
  • Overview of ColdFusion (CFML) Applications
  • Distribute Java EE sessions with Couchbase Railo Extension
  • Leverage NoSQL JSON Document store from CFML
  • Leverage Couchbase as a distributed cache from any CFML application.
